Training provides candidates with realistic expectations of the challenges encountered if lost or involved a northern air crash event on the barren lands.

Trip preparation and land skills gained through this training greatly improve victim survivability. This program is highly tailored towards people who work on the land, as well as aircrews and passengers that transit throughout the North and may be forced into a variety of survival situations.

This training provides an understanding of National Search and Rescue programs and relevant timeframes and constraints on rescue.

The program is tailored to include awareness and rehearsal of the client’s organizational overdue and relevant emergency response procedures.

The extreme winter environment combined with lack of wood and other materials makes surviving an emergency on the barrens especially challenging.

Pre-trip planning and intimate familiarity with personal and company provided emergency equipment is paramount to survival. Our instructional staff carry out detailed inspections of all equipment and clothing prior to departure for the field. Arctic Response utilizes an exhaustive risk management matrix and procedure to maximize training effectiveness and safety.

This program includes 1 day of classroom and 2.5 days of training on the land. The field training of this course is intended to challenge each candidate regardless of skill level or field experience. Candidates in average physical condition and with adequate clothing and equipment are capable of meeting the training standard. Candidates possessing advanced skills will be further challenged with more advanced scenarios. This training is very specific and should not be confused with winter camping.
