Map and compass training incorporates one day of classroom theory lessons, followed by one day of practical training on the land.
Students will develop critical skills such as route planning and time appreciation for moving over northern terrain.
The practical phase of training involves small groups navigating a planned route over pristine land.
Improved leadership, self-confidence and team interaction are collateral benefits of this course as the students rotate through primary navigator and support roles.
Skill upkeep and review of basic survival strategies and bear awareness training are also reinforced during training.
Additional day or night training can be incorporated into the training plan as required.
