Training is designed for individuals or small groups that work or recreate on bodies of ice covered water. Theory and practical training covers prevention, self-rescue and use of rescue aids by small groups or work parties.
After this course, students will know how to prepare themselves for a trip out on the ice, how to prevent an emergency from happening, how to avoid dangerous areas on the ice, and how to self-rescue or assist others who have fallen through the ice.
Tailored Ice Rescue training electives are available for police, fire departments, Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) and other first responder agencies to improve and practise safety tactics and skills.
